“Mom said you were good for me,” the little boy said.
“But I’m just a poor broccoli. I surely can’t do any harm.”
“Okay, just this once.” Billy slipped the broccoli into his pocket and waited until after dinner to take the poor sad broccoli outside.
“Plant me in the dirt, behind the shed,” the broccoli asked.
The little boy agreed and dug a large hole for the vegetable behind the shed. He patted the ground and smiled. “I’ll come back later.”
Soon his parents started whispering, worried and rushed. Billy didn’t know what to think so he spent time with the broccoli. It was growing bigger and bigger.
“You’re going to be bigger than me, soon.”
“No, no,” the broccoli sai
